Our approach to sustainability and food production

The goal of agriculture in Boulder County is similar to agriculture in other counties. We want to provide safe and affordable food for our residents and protect our land. We do that through a variety of cropping systems. Each plot of land in our county is different and each crop has different needs. Farmers need the flexibility to grow crops in ways that are safe and sustainable for our environment. Farming is not a “one size fits all” deal. Maintaining local and sustainable food production is complicated. We need all of the tools available. This allows us to take a comprehensive approach to food production in our county, and ensure that all sustainable farming methods remain on the table.
